It was a highly entertaining and goal-filled match when FCH hosted Lyngby BK, the other top team in the Nordicbet Ligaen, on Saturday afternoon.

In the first half, FC Helsingør were in control, but it was Lyngby who got the first chance. After four minutes of play, Lyngby intercepted FCH’s passes in midfield, and Frederik Gytkjær broke through the middle. He played it out to Lasse Fosgaard on the right side, and Fosgaard sent in a flat cross across the field. Gytkjær had arrived there, but his finish was too close to Kevin Stuhr, who was able to gather the ball in two attempts.

After that, FC Helsingør pushed the game further forward and swarmed around the Lyngby goal. That led to a couple of corners, and a couple of half-chances for Liam Jordan and Tonni Adamsen, without it really becoming dangerous.

But after 18 minutes, FC Helsingør broke the deadlock. Tonni Adamsen played a beautiful through ball between two Lyngby players to Elijah Just, who went on a run down the right side. Eli played the ball across the box to Liam Jordan centrally. Jordan had seen that he was marked, so he laid the ball off to Callum McCowatt with his first touch. Callum calmly played the ball back centrally to Tonni Adamsen, who had continued his run into the six-yard box, and Adamsen could coolly poke the ball in. Fantastic build-up to the goal.
1-0 FC Helsingør

And just four minutes later FC Helsingør extended the lead. Where the first goal had been an excellent team goal, the second was a brilliant solo effort. Tonni Adamsen won a header on the edge of the box and played the ball on to Eli Just. Eli brought the ball down on the left side of the box, turned once, then turned again, and before the defender could get set, Eli curled the ball around Lyngby goalkeeper Frederik Ibsen and into the net high in the opposite corner. A splendid goal by Elijah Just.
2-0 FC Helsingør

After 33 minutes, FCH had their next really big chance. Philip Rejnhold intercepted a ball on the left side and broke forward with Tonni Adamsen centrally. Rejnhold found Adamsen at exactly the right moment, but when Adamsen got into the box and finished, his shot went just on the wrong side of the post, to Frederik Ibsen’s great relief, as he had not got down to the shot.

Five minutes before the break, Liam Jordan delivered a good cross across the box. In the center Callum McCowatt could not get past his marker, so the ball went all the way through to Nicklas Mouritsen on the other side of the box. Mouritsen took a couple of meters into the box and sent a strike toward goal, but his fine shot went just over the crossbar.

Shortly before time, a Lyngby man suddenly got through on the right side. Kevin Stuhr charged out and stayed on his feet, and as the shot stayed low, he was able to bat the ball up into the air with a good reflex save, and gather it. Good action by the veteran.

FCH calmly played the ball around among themselves in the last couple of minutes, and could then go to halftime after a half in which they had been best in the play on the pitch and sharpest in the box, but where Kevin Stuhr Ellegaard had also been forced to make a couple of good saves.

But it was a different, more aggressive Lyngby team that came out for the second half. Only a minute and a half had been played in the second half before Lyngby reduced the deficit. A long throw into the box was flicked on by Lasse Fosgaard, and centrally Frederik Gytkjær rose highest in the six-yard box and headed the ball in via the far post, where Kevin Stuhr could not get across.
2-1 Lyngby BK

Lyngby broke up FCH’s buildup time and again at the start of the second half, and despite a single shot straight at Ibsen from Elijah Just, it was the visitors who dominated this phase.

In the 54th minute things went wrong again for FC Helsingør. Rasmus Thellufsen got the ball on the right side of the pitch just outside the box. He dribbled into the box, where the FCH defense tried to contain him. Nikolaj Hansen got his tackle in at the right moment, but the ball bounced straight up to Thellufsen, who got past Hansen. From a narrow angle, Thellufsen put the ball between Kevin Stuhr’s legs and equalized FCH’s lead.
2-2 Lyngby BK

The goal sparked FC Helsingør, who pushed the ball and the play further up the pitch. But in the 63th minute, Lyngby had nonetheless taken the lead. Magnus Westergaard tackled his way through along the byline on the right side. Westergaard delivered a high cross into the box, where FCH failed to clear it twice, and then the ball finally landed at Frederik Gytkjær’s feet, and he put it away safely with a good finish.
2-3 Lyngby BK

After Lyngby’s lead goal, FCH made two substitutions and succeeded in applying better pressure on the Lyngby goal. Three minutes later, Kasper Enghardt was close to scoring against his old teammates. Lyngby conceded a free kick on the left side of the pitch. Nicklas Mouritsen sent it straight onto Enghardt’s forehead, but Ibsen pulled off a monster save and got the ball over the goal.

But in the 75th minute FC Helsingør got reward for their efforts. Nicklas Mouritsen delivered a razor-sharp corner onto Tonni Adamsen’s forehead, and he headed the ball down into the box, where Callum McCowatt was alert and put a long toe to it, and poked the ball in with no chance for Ibsen.
3-3 FC Helsingør

Almost ten minutes later Oliver Drost was close. A good cross from Mouritsen ended up centrally, where substitute Oliver Kjærgaard laid it off to Oliver Drost, who sent a strike from another world toward goal, but unfortunately just over. It was FC Helsingør who had the initiative heading into the end of the match, and several times they got shots away in and around Lyngby’s box, but the visitors repelled them again and again. The biggest chance fell to Sebastian Czajkowski, as a big mistake from Frederik Ibsen sent the ball straight to Czajkowski, but the recently substituted striker had to watch Ibsen save his own error.

Shortly before time, Nicklas Mouritsen tried again with one of his superb long shots, but again the ball went just over the goal.

In stoppage time the Helsingør players pressed hard, but the home side did not score any more, and so it ended in a share of the points between the two top teams. FC Helsingør’s next match is already on Wednesday, when we go to Køge to play the postponed match against HB Køge.
